A California man who allegedly flew to Rochester hoping to have sex with a 12-year-old girl is being held without bail by federal authorities.
Prosecutors say Gabriel Murillo used a social media app to communicate with what he thought was an underage girl. He was actually speaking with a State Police investigator.
Papers filed in federal court yesterday say Murillo had sexually explicit message sessions with what he believed was the 12-year-old, claiming to be about 20 when he’s actually 44. He also allegedly sent pornographic video.
Murillo was identified through California DMV records and met by police as he stepped off a plane in Rochester, expecting to meet up with the girl.
He faces a custody hearing and which prosecutors will ask that he continue to be denied bail.
