Livingston County Assembly Candidate Marjorie Byrnes has fired back against Assemblyman Joe Errigo, filing a complaint with the State Board of Elections over one of his campaign pieces.
The Republican and Conservative Party candidate says an Errigo flyer claims that she and a member of her campaign team are under investigation for bribery, which isn’t true. She also objects to a photoshopped image putting her together with Governor Andrew Cuomo, which she says didn’t happen. Byrnes says in her complaint that the flier violates the Fair Campaign Code.
The charge follows a complaint filed by the Errigo Campaign against Byrnes. Errigo believes that a $20,000 consulting fee paid by Marjorie Byrnes to former Livingston County Conservative Party Chair Jason Byrnes influenced the party to give Byrnes its endorsement over Errigo. Byrnes denies the timing of the check and the endorsement were linked. It’s this incident which the Errigo campaign calls “bribery” in its flier.
Byrnes and Errigo face off for the Republican nomination in next month’s primary election.
