The owners of the Western New York Flash have posted on the team website that the franchise is officially sold to the North Carolina FC in Cary, North Carolina. The National Women’s Soccer League franchise will be moving immediately and play its 2017 season in North Carolina.
A letter from the Sahlen Family of Buffalo, the team owners, says it’s unfortunately apparent that the Flash is not a good fit for Western New York. They say they’re proud to have been founding members of the league and wish the NWSL and US Soccer the best of luck.
