A Buffalo woman is in custody after a police pursuit that started with the theft of a car in Greece.

Rochester Police have charged 24-year-old Brittany Jamison with assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, unlawful flight from a police officer and assorted traffic charges. She may also be charged by Greece Police with auto theft and by New York State Police for refusing to stop. The assault charge is for backing the stolen car into a Rochester Police vehicle after she was pulled over, nearly hitting the officer.

Jamison allegedly stole a customer’s car from the parking lot at Northgate Plaza in Greece while the owner was working out at Planet Fitness. The car was taken from the Dewey Avenue parking lot between 5:00 and 6:00 in the morning after the keys were stolen from a locker in the gym.

RPD officers spotted the car four hours later and gave chase on 490, where she allegedly reversed the stolen car and crashed into a police SUV, narrowly missing an officer.
