The Bisons shut out Rochester on 6 hits, 3-0.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bisons snapped the Rochester Red Wings’ 5-game winning streak with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Field.

Mike Bolsinger allowed just four hits over eight innings by the Red Wings. Bolsinger (3-2) struck out seven in earning the win.

In the fifth inning, Buffalo went up 2-0 after Shane Opitz hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Jon Berti. The Bisons scored again in the seventh inning when Roemon Fields hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Raffy Lopez.

Matt Tracy (2-2) hurled 3 innings for Rochester, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. He also struck out 2 and walked 2 batters.

Engelb Vielma recorded 2 of the 6 hits for Rochester.

The Red Wings were held off the scoreboard for the fifth time this season, while the Bisons’ staff recorded their seventh shutout of the year.

Despite the loss, Rochester (41-35) is 9-4 against Buffalo (36-43) this season. The Red Wings have won 12 of their last 14 games.

The 4-game series concludes on Thursday with a 1:05 matinee.

*NOTES — RHP Alex Wimmers was outrighted to Rochester; and RHP Phil Hughes ended his MLB rehab assignment… Rochester has won six games in a single season at Coca-Cola Field for the first time in the ballpark’s history. Since the Bisons rejoined the International League in
1998, the Wings had only won five games in Buffalo four times: 2016, 2009, 2008 and 2003. Rochester has won six straight games against the Bisons for the first time since winning seven consecutive against Buffalo from June 5-Aug. 14, 2008… Zack Granite has reached base safely in 28 straight games while hitting in 10 straight games and 27 of his last 31. His 17-game hitting streak, the longest by a Wing since Danny Valencia in 2010, came to an end in game two last Sunday. Entering Wednesday’s game, Granite led the International League in batting average (.371) and on-base percentage (.423)…Mitch Garver has hit in a career-high 13 straight games while batting .364 (20-for-55) with seven doubles, two home runs, four RBI and nine runs scored since May 15. He has scored a run in seven of his last eight games. Garver now qualifies for the league leaderboard and his .389 on-base percentage ranks fifth.
