A 17-year-old Rochester teenager has pleaded not guilty to second degree manslaughter and other charges in connection with the death of a young woman last week on Delamaine Drive.
Jermaine Brown has been charged in the death of Ciara Grimes, who police say was shot inside a home on Delamaine Drive and then carried outside. He was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
According to papers filed in court, Brown is accused of recklessly firing a pistol round inside the house, hitting Grimes. She died about an hour and 15 minutes later from her injuries.
Police say Brown and Grimes had been in a relationship, and her mother told reporters it was a violent one. Several members of the Grimes family were escorted from court by deputies after yelling at Brown.
