Closing arguments resumed at the Hall of Justice this morning for Patrick Brooks, the parolee accused of stabbing his wife and daughter to death last Thanksgiving weekend.

Defense Attorney Michael Doran was in the middle of his summation when the power failed yesterday. After continuing under emergency lighting for a few minutes, officials informed the court they were evacuating the building and the trial had to be suspended. Doran picked up where he left off by the judge’s order and the trial continued, the defense pointing out that only some of the bloody clothing found at the scene matched the defendant’s DNA; other clothing did not.

Prosecutor William Gargan told the jury there’s no evidence anyone else committed the crimes.

Brooks allegedly stabbed Christie and Victoria Brooks to death at their home on Wellington Avenue last November 25th. Brooks had been released on parole twice since 2014.
