Macedon Police say a support beam that was secured to the trailer hitch broke, causing the fatal crash over the weekend on Route 31 in Macedon.
A large barbecue smoker mounted on a trailer was towing behind an RV Saturday evening when the RV hit a bump and the trailer broke loose. The trailer slewed across the road and into an oncoming car.
The crash killed Seth Krebbeks, a 2015 graduate of Pal-Mac High School. The driver, Jared Jones, was injured and airlifted to Strong Memorial by Mercy Flight. He has since been released from the hospital
The Palmyra-Macedon Schools will have counselors for the school community Tuesday through Friday at the high school, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Police say they’re still investigating and haven’t determined if there will be any charged because of the crash.
