A 4th grade teacher at the Fred W. Hill School in Brockport has been named the New York State Teacher of the Year.

The State Education Department says Christopher Albrecht (left) has been a teacher for more than 20 years and has been a positive force in the lives of his students. They say he goes above and beyond every day to give his students the best learning experience possible. Brockport Central School District officials say being in Albrecht’s class can be a life-changing experience for children.

In addition to teaching Albrecht coached high school soccer and baseball. He also founded a running program for 4th and 5th graders that builds self-confidence in special needs children by competing in area races.
