Federal prosecutors say a Brockport man has pleaded guilty to identity theft as part of a scheme to steal merchandise from area businesses
They say 32-year-old Paul Kozlyuk is facing up to 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced on October 25th.
Kozlyuk admitted to conspiring with co-defendant Kyle Bertrand and others to use personal ID information stolen from various states, including names, social security and credit card numbers. He used that information to buy goods, paid Bertrand a percentage of what they were worth, then either kept the stolen items or sold them through his former business, the Marketview Heights Garage.
All told, he cleared more than $144,000 before he was caught by State Police and the FBI.
