Brockport Police say they have the man in custody they’ve identified as responsible for a home invasion robbery attempt on Adams Street in the Village.

They say 23-year-old Edward Pearce was stopped by Rochester Police for a traffic violation on Tuesday and gave a false name. Police identified him as Pearce and turned him over to Brockport Police.

He’s accused of kicking in the door of a house on Adams Street in Brockport on December 5th and demanding money from the people inside, threatening them with what turned out to be an airsoft pistol. A resident jumped Pearce and disarmed him before he ran away. He’s charged with burglary, attempted robbery, menacing and criminal mischief.

Brockport Police believe his motive was to steal drugs or money for drugs.
