Protestors gathered along Holley Street in Brockport Thursday evening objecting to a controversial guest speaker at SUNY Brockport.

Jalil Muntaquim is set to speak at the college on April 6. Several dozen people carrying flags and signs demonstrated against his appearance at the state college. Muntaquim was known as Anthony Bottom when he was convicted in 1971 of killing two New York City patrolmen. He served nearly 50 years in prison before being released and settling in Rochester.

SUNY Brockport canceled a payment to Muntaquim, but says the event will go on as scheduled in an event that is meant to present controversial speakers and viewpoints.

The demonstrators say they will be on Holley Street outside the campus every other night until April 6.
