The Superintendent of Brighton Central Schools says he’s all for students expressing themselves about the tragic school shooting in Florida, but he wants them to do it the right way, and safely.
Kevin McGowan says he will meet next week with student organizers of a protest walkout planned for March 14th. Students from Stoneman High School in Florida have asked students nationwide to walk out of their classes for 17 minutes at 10:00 that morning, one minute for each victim killed in the shooting.
McGowan says he’s already spoken with the student organizers at Brighton High School and will meet with them next week. He says he’s also working with Brighton Police to make sure any such demonstration goes smoothly.
McGowan says he’s also been talking campus safety with the department, and students should notice increased foot patrols around the school.
