Rochester’s first homicide victim of 2022 may not have been an intended target.

Police say 14-year-old Julius Greer Jr was shot and killed outside a store on North Street Sunday evening. He was going to the store to buy noodles for his family dinner, and stumbled into the store after being shot, where he collapsed. A parked car was also hit by the gunfire.

Rochester Mayor Malik Evans commented in his first press conference Monday that he had called Greer’s parents and said his mother deserves justice for her baby. He said someone has the information they need to break the cycle of violence, and should come forward.
