Federal prosecutors say a man from Ghana has been arrested in Rochester on a charge of assaulting and resisting federal law enforcement officers.

They say 34-year-old Nana Dwomah Yeboah, a Ghanian citizen, was charged after a Christmas Eve incident at the Rochester Rail and Bus Station on Cumberland Street. Yeboah was observed entering the station and leaving a package on a bench in the lobby before leaving. Customs and Border Protection officers had been running a surveillance on the bus station. They immediately investigated the package and found marijuana packaged for retail sale.

Yeboah returned to the station and was stopped and questioned by the officers. He ran when they tried to detain him, and fought when he was captured outside the station. One of the officers suffered facial injuries in the fight that required treatment at Rochester General Hospital.

Yeboah is being held pending a hearing on January 16th.
