Remains found in a car in the Genesee River on Friday have been identified by Rochester police as those of 57-year-old Tammy Greer of Rochester.

Her body was found in the badly mangled car on the bottom of the Genesee River off River Street. Police SCUBA divers on a training exercise found the car and it was recovered from the river.

Police say Greer had moved from Pennsylvania to Rochester sometime in 2018 or 2019. She has no local family. They believe the vehicle went into the river sometime after May of 2019.

They’re still trying to discover the circumstances, but right now don’t consider this to be foul play.
