The Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board says Lake Ontario water levels are stabilizing because of decreased rain and increased outflows down the St. Lawrence River.

The outflow from Lake Ontario is close to the highest on record and the board says it will make further increases in coming days. With an eye on the weather forecast, the board says the lake is at or very near its peak level for the year. The board expects about another inch of rise due to rain before the lake starts receding for the summer.

The board continues to maintain that these high water levels are due to wet weather, not Plan 2014 that regulates the lake levels.
