The first of three suspects to be tried in connection with last summer’s Genesee Street shootings has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
He’ll serve three consecutive life sentences plus 57 years, ensuring he spends the rest of his life behind bars.
Johnny Blackshell Jr. was found guilty of three murders in the drive-by shootings outside the Boys and Girls Club last August. Prosecutors say he was firing the AK47-style rifle used in the shootings while an accomplice drove the car. Three people were killed and four were injured when Blackshell and another suspect fired into the crowd leaving a basketball game.
The two other young men involved are being tried together.
