Buffalo racks up 13 hits in a 7-0 victory over Rochester.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Deck McGuire tossed eight shutout innings and allowed just four hits as the Bisons blanked the Rochester Red Wings, 7-0, on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field. His batterymate Danny Jansen added a two-run double as part of a six-run Herd third inning that gave the righty all the offense he would need.

With the win, the Bisons pull back to the .500-mark at 12-12 as the club leaves for a seven-game roadtrip to Lehigh Valley and Pawtucket.

Rochester also is at the .500-mark with the loss (14-14).

McGuire has been nothing short of fantastic on the mound for the Herd as of late. Wednesday’s outing was his fourth consecutive start allowing two runs or less. Against the Red Wings, he allowed just five base runners and erased two of them by picking Jake Cave off of first to end the first and getting Sean Miller to bounce into an inning-ending doubleplay on his 91st and last pitch he threw in the game.

In particular, McGuire continues to be tough late in games. The righty faced just two over the minimum from the fifth inning on and has now held opponents to a .176 average from the fifth inning or later this season.

With the win, McGuire is now 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA. He is tied with Chris Rowley for the team-lead in victories.

The Bisons got all the offense they would need in the third inning when they sent 10 ment to the plate. Devon Travis and Dwight Smith Jr. got the Herd on the board with RBI-singles on back-to-back pitches from Red Wings starter, Deitrich Enns (1-4). Danny Jansen followed with a two-run double into the left field corner to double the advantage to 4-0.

With Enns out, the inning continued against the Rochester bullpen. Jason Leblebijian singled home Jansen with the first of his three hits on the day and Gift Ngoepe singled to left to bring in the Bisons’ third baseman.

With the victory, the Bisons closed out their 7-game homestand against Syracuse and Rochester with a 5-2 record.

*NOTES — In roster moves Wednesday, LHP Dietrich Enns was activated after being outrighted by Minnesota on May 7, and RHP Ryne Harper was transferred to Double-A Chattanooga…The Red Wings open up a 4-game trip in Pennsylvania against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton RailRiders on Thursday at 6:35 pm.
