The Buffalo Bills have traded wide receiver Zay Jones to the Oakland Raiders.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen first reported that the Bills will receive a fifth-round pick for their former second-round pick from the 2017 NFL draft. The Bills also traded up at the 2017 draft to select Jones.
Per Mortensen’s report, the emergence of wideout Duke Williams during Buffalo’s 17-14 win over the Titans played a part in the deal.
Williams was called up from the team’s practice squad one day prior to the game and played a big role. He had four catches for 29 yards on four targets, which included the game-winning score.
Jones, on the other hand, only played one snap in the entire game. Williams, the former CFL star, played in 51 total snaps during his NFL debut.
In 36 career games, Jones had 90 catches for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns for the Bills. In 2018, he had 56 catches for 652 yards and seven scores, but this season Jones only had seven catches for 69 yards and no scores.
