Late Thursday night, the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers were closing in on a trade that would have sent former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown to Buffalo, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

However, the trade has since fallen through with the Bills pulling out of the potential deal.

Rapoport tweeted, “Update from the #Bills on the Antonio Brown: After intense talks that went into last night, and almost getting there on trade compensation, Buffalo says they are out. The #Steelers now must find another suitor.”

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Brown nixed a trade to Buffalo.

NFL Network reports that the 30-year-old wideout made many question whether he’d simply show up to play for the Bills. Rapoport said that was the main concern Friday morning on “Good Morning Football.”

Beane issues statement Friday

The Buffalo Bills issued a statement from General Manager Brandon Beane on Friday regarding the potential trade:

“We inquired about Antonio Brown on Tuesday, and kept talks open with the Steelers. We had positive discussions, but ultimately it didn’t make sense for either side. As great a player as Antonio Brown is, we have moved on and our focus is on free agency.”
