The Bills added a fourth quarterback to the roster in advance of the preseason finale where Austin Trainor is expected to get a good deal of playing time.
Bills Insider Chris Brown provides the details. Here is his report:
The Buffalo Bills announced that the team has signed QB Austin Trainor. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Trainor, a 6-2, 212-pound West Georgia product, will be making his second stint with the Bills after participating with the team on a try-out basis during the team’s 2015 rookie minicamp.
Bills head coach Rex Ryan sat a good number of his starters in last week’s preseason game at Washington and figures to sit even more players in the preseason finale Thursday at Detroit. After E.J. Manuel played almost the whole game at Washington, he and Cardale Jones probably will turn over the bulk of the playing time at quarterback to Trainor on Thursday night.
In addition to West Georgia, Trainor spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Florida A&M University. Trainor is a native of Tallahassee, FL.
