Buffalo releases DE Nate Orchard to make room on the roster.
Buffalo Bills Insider Chris Brown provides the details. Here is his report:
With Buffalo’s cornerback position dealing with a couple of nicked up players, the Bills added to their ranks on the 53-man roster Tuesday, signing free agent CB Dontae Johnson.
Johnson (6-2, 200) was most recently with the Seattle Seahawks. He was on the team’s injured reserve list with a groin injury, but was released after reaching an injury settlement last week.
A former fourth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2014, Johnson has appeared in 63 career games over the last 4 seasons with 135 tackles, 21 pass breakups and two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns.
Johnson was a full-time starter for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 season making all 16 starts. He recorded 69 tackles, 7 pass breakups and a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown against Jacksonville.
He signed with Seattle in this past offseason and was projected to win a starting cornerback role with the Seahawks, but the groin injury derailed his chances.
To make room on the roster for Johnson the Bills released defensive end Nate Orchard.
