The Buffalo Bills made the signing of eight undrafted rookie free agents on Friday official. General manager Brandon Beane said following the draft that it might take a longer while to get signees announced because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We’ve finally got a few to discuss.
Now that the team has finally been able to get players inked to deals, here’s who the Bills have signed:
OL Trey Adams | Washington
Vitals: 6-foot-8, 311 pounds
Heading into his junior year, Trey Adams was pegged as someone who would enter the draft as an underclassman. He has size and talent, but he suffered an ACL injury in 2017 which set him way back. He proved last season he was healthy though, starting every game. Pro Football Focus ranked Adams as their 38th best available UDFA following the draft.
S Garrett Taylor | Penn State
Vitals: 6-foot, 203 pounds
A former team captain, Garrett Taylor has some intangibles the Bills will like. While listed as a safety, there’s a chance that Taylor could come down in the box and play some big nickel. Adding to his frame will help there as well.
CB Ike Brown | FIU
Vitals: 6-foot, 185 pounds
At six-feet tall, Ike Brown has desired height for the cornerback position in the NFL, but will likely need to bulk up from that 185 number. Other numbers: In 20 games, he had 29 pass breakups, five interceptions and a forced fumble.
S Josh Thomas | Appalachian State
Vitals: 6-foot, 205 pounds
Another captain and another small-school prospect for the Bills in Josh Thomas via App. State. He talked to the Bills prior to the draft and could see time battling in a nickel spot, too.
FB Reggie Gilliam | Toledo
Vitals: 6-foot, 244 pounds
A small school prospect, but a former walk-on turned two-year starter. Despite that, Gilliam did also play some tight end and running back in his past, a bit of a versatile prospect.
OL Brandon Walton | FAU
Vitals: 6-foot-4, 311 pounds
Brandon Walton has experience blocking for Devin Singletary, as he was teammates with the running back in college. He started 12 games at left tackle last year and can play on both sides of the line. He earned first-team, All-Conference USA honors.
OL Marquel Harrell | Auburn
Vitals: 6-foot-3, 307 pounds
A two-year starter at a big school is a good sign, but Marquel Harrell didn’t have much pre-draft hype as a guy that’d be selected at all. Per the Bills’ website, Harrell has been working on becoming a versatile guy that can play center.
RB Antonio Williams | North Carolina
Vitals: 5-foot-11, 215 pounds
With that frame, he’ll have a tough time making the Bills’ roster since the team drafted Zack Moss. But Antonio Williams did play at Ohio State earlier in his college career, so there’s talent there that could find a depth or practice squad spot.
