Following the team’s 2019 rookie minicamp over the weekend, the Buffalo Bills have made a series of roster moves which included signing four players who were trying out for the team at the minicamp.
The team announced on Monday that UAB defensive lineman Quindarius Thagard, ECU offensive lineman Garrett McGhin, Florida tight end Moral Stephens and West Alabama safety Abraham Wallace were all signed. In total, the Bills hosted 36 players on tryout during the three-day camp.
Thagard joins the Bills having notched 64 tackles including eight for loss, plus four sacks in two season at UAB. Per NYUP.com, Thagard was working as a corrections officer following his senior season.
Stephens, a 6-foot-4 target from the University of Florida, only had 15 catches in his career. However, he averaged 17.4 yards per catch and had three touchdowns last season, despite only having eight catches in his senior season.
McGhin, a senior from ECU, never missed a game in his four-year career, appering 48 games. McGhin transition from a special teamer to starting guard.
Wallace comes to the Bills via West Alabama, but was previously a backup at LSU and Texas Tech. He earned his degree in three years at LSU. In 2018, Wallace had 60 total tackles, a forced fumbles and two interceptions.
In order to make room, the Bills also released tight end Jake Fisher and running back Keith Ford.
Fisher was a former offensive lineman looking to make the transition to a blocking tight end role. The Bills also announced the signing of veteran tight end Lee Smith on Monday, which also likely contributed to Fisher’s release.
Ford was an undrafted rookie signing of the Bills last season and made a late season appearance on the team’s roster.
Buffalo’s roster is now full at 91 players, which includes international Christian Wade, which the team has an exemption for, allowing them to hold 91 players in 2019’s training camp, as opposed to the traditional 90.
