Pat Flaherty is no longer the Miami Dolphins offensive line coach, about a week into training camp was all it took.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins fired Flaherty, 63, on Monday. His report indicates that Flaherty struggled to get the O-line on the same page.
Miami hired head coach Brian Flores this offseason, which means Flores brought in with a whole new coaching staff just this offseason, Flaherty included.
Prior to joining the Dolphins, Flaherty coached the offensive line with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the past two years and also had stints with the 49ers, Giants, Bears, and Redskins.
The Dolphins Wire also said that the offensive line in Miami has simply struggled throughout the entire offseason this far. The Dolphins Wire’s Bret Lagasse writes “the most damning issue [with Flaherty] may have come down to the embarrassing short yardage periods on Saturday. the Dolphins defensive line did whatever they wanted with Flaherty’s group.”
A struggling offensive line for the Dolphins will naturally be good news for the Bills. The AFC East foes will play twice this season and Buffalo focused on improving their defensive line this offseason, highlighted by the addition of first-round pick Ed Oliver.
