The Buffalo Bills have an unlikely road to the 2018 playoffs. After cracking the postseason for the first time in 17 seasons last year, this year will likely end at Week 17.

At 4-7, the Bills can’t lose another game this season. To their credit, they are currently on a two-game winning streak. But don’t count linebacker Lorenzo Alexander among those who don’t believe they’ve got a shot.

Alexander told the Buffalo News this week that he believes his team still has a shot.

“I’ve been on a team that started 3-6, we won out and made the playoffs. So I have faith that we have the ability to do that. Obviously, it’s a hard challenge to win six, seven games in a row, but Houston has just done it and we were toe-to-toe with them and probably could have beaten them if one ball bounces our way. I’ve been around long enough to know that you can’t give up and give in and start pointing fingers because you always have a chance as long as you’re eligible and we’re still mathematically in it,” Alexander said.

Also worth noting is the game-winning score against the Texans this season was a pick-six interception by quarterback Nathan Peterman.

That season Alexander is referring to was the 2012 season he spent with Washington. They rallied to finish 10-6 and win the NFC East division.

However, history is against the Bills as no team has starting a season 2-7 and made the playoffs under the NFL’s current schedule format. But, never say never. ESPN’s Football Power Index ranks the Bills’ remaining schedule ahead of them the easiest one of any team’s in the NFL.

Not to overlook the Miami Dolphins (5-6) who Buffalo plays on Sunday, but the Bills certainly do have a tough opponent on their remaining schedule which is the New England Patriots.
