Moves No. 1 and No. 2 for the Buffalo Bills and Sean McDermott’s coaching staff have arrived.
Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane confirmed on the team’s radio station on Wednesday that the team has moved on from offensive line coach Juan Castillo, which was reported earlier in the week.
On Wednesday, a report said wide receiver coach Terry Robiskie was the next domino to fall. According to Alex Marvez from Sirius-XM radio, Robiskie is out in Buffalo.
The Bills wide out room was certainly far from the best in the NFL in 2019. However, the group had mixed results when things were all said and done.
Zay Jones finished the 2018 season with 652 yards, good for 59th most in the NFL. Jones’ body of work came via 56 catches, seven of which went for scores. While the Bills need a target that can be better than 59th as their No. 1 wideout, Jones’ numbers across the board were up in from his rookie season which saw him bring in 27 catches for 316 yards with two touchdowns.
In addition, the Bills (6-10) got a huge late season surprise in Robert Foster as the undrafted rookie nearly passed Jones in regard to numbers despite only featuring in Buffalo’s offense for seven games as opposed to Jones’ 16. In total, Foster had 27 catches for 541 yards with three touchdowns.
While Jones and Foster were solid contributors, Kelvin Benjamin was a woeful performer during his Bills’ career and was eventually cut. He was slated to be the team’s No. 1 target but never reached those levels. Like Benjamin, the Bills simply rostered a group of receivers that lacked depth and talent.
The Bills hired Robiskie in February after Phil McGeoghan stepped down from his job as wide receivers coach to join the Chargers in that same role.
