For his Week 5 performance against the Los Angeles Rams, Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
The National Football League announced today that Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman was named AFC defensive player of the week for his Week Five performance against the Los Angeles Rams. Robey’s award winning day helped lead the Bills to a 30-19 win.
With Robey-Coleman earning the honor for Week Five and Zach Brown being named the Week Four DPOW, the Bills have won back-to-back DPOW awards for the first time since 1991 when Cornelius Bennett and Nate Odomes earned back-to-back honors—also in Weeks Four and Five.
Below is a summary of Robey-Coleman’s performance Sunday versus the Rams in Los Angeles:
-Scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 41-yard interception-touchdown in the third quarter to break a 16-16 tie.
-Added a second interception on the Rams final drive
-Interception-touchdown came in the Coliseum, which is the same stadium he played collegiately for USC. During his collegiate career, Robey-Coleman returned three interceptions for touchdown—which still stands as a Trojan record.
-Now has two defensive touchdowns on the season—becoming the 10th Bill defender in team history to find the end zone twice in one season.
