Terry Heffernan becomes the third new coach added to Sean McDermott’s staff.

Head coach Sean McDermott continued to fill out the vacancies on his coaching staff Monday, as the team announced the hiring of Terry Heffernan as Assistant offensive line coach.
Heffernan, who most recently served as Associate head coach/offensive line coach at Eastern Kentucky, has three years of NFL coaching experience. He was the assistant offensive line coach for the Detroit Lions for two seasons and a quality control coach for the offensive line for one season (2013-2015).
It was with the Lions where Heffernan coached alongside Bills new offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, who was the Lions tight ends coach (2013) and assistant offensive line coach (2014).
Prior to his NFL coaching stint, Heffernan spent five seasons coaching the offensive line for Wayne State, a Division II college power.
In his three seasons coaching Eastern Kentucky’s offensive line, Heffernan led an offensive line that finished fifth in the nation in sacks allowed in 2017 and 26th in the nation in rushing this past season.
Heffernan replaces assistant offensive line coach Andrew Dees.
