Rochester ‘bats’ 3 home runs in the 7th in posting a 5-1 victory over the Bats.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jose Berrios pitched his best game of the season on a cold afternoon at Frontier Field. The 22-year-old struck out 7 while yielding just 2 hits and walking 2 over 8 innings before 3,258 fans.

The game was a pitchers’ duel through 6 innings between Berrios and Louisville right-hander Jackson Stephens. The Red Wings chased him in the seventh. Matt Hague led off with a home run over the left field fence. Daniel Palka drew a walk and Niko Goodrum followed with a homer down the right field line off the foul pole.

Lucas Luetge replaced Jackson. John Ryan Murphy smashed a 2-out homer over the left field wall for a 4-0 advantage.

Rochester tacked on a run in the eighth. Tommy Field beat out an infield hit. Hague was hit by a pitch and Palka singled to load the bases. Goodrum drew a bases-loaded walk for the fifth run.

Drew Rucinski hurled the ninth inning for Rochester, allowing a run on two hits.

*NOTES – OF Zack Granite was reinstated from disabled list and transferred to Single-A Ft. Myers on Sunday…Ehire Adrianza played shortstop and went 0-for-3 with a walk, as part of his rehab assignment with the Red Wings…The 3 home runs in the 7th inning was the most in one inning for the Red Wings since they hit 4 on May 13, 2014…The Red Wings (12-9) are off Monday and begin a 3-game series in Buffalo against the Bisons (14-8) in a battle for first place in the North Division.
