Monroe County Executive Adam Bello on Thursday signed an executive order to require all non-governmental contractors doing business with the county to comply with federal and New York State equal pay laws.
Bello’s order came on Black Women’s Equal Pay day, and Bello joined the Pay Equity Coalition to sign the order. The coalition says African-American women are paid 64 cents on the dollar and Latina women 55 cents on the dollar compared with white men.
