Unable to get the Monroe County budget to fund a permanent downtown DMV office, County Clerk Adam Bello says he’s doing the next best th
ing.
Bello says he’s closing the County Parks Office mobile license bureau unit, and opening the satellite Auto License Bureau at the downtown City Place Building Monday through Friday. City Place is kitty-corner from the Monroe County Office Building at Main and Fitzhugh Streets, and Bello’s office says the license bureau will be open 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Bello says the mobile unit at county parks had problems with accessibility for people with disabilities and mobility issues, and City Place is accessible.
The City Place office is currently open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. It goes Monday-through-Friday on March 15th. Bello says he’s still trying to work out a permanent downtown DMV solution.
