Democratic sheriff candidate Todd Baxter says Republican Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn has failed to lead as his jail deputies continue working without a contract.
Baxter said in a news conference that the deputies’ union rejected another contract offer last month…and have been working without one for five years. Baxter says O’Flynn has been silent on this issue….but accepted a pay raise for himself. Baxter says in the military he worked on the assumption of “no woman or man left behind” and put the interests of his troops ahead of his own.
Sheriff O’Flynn said in response that Baxter is inserting himself and politics into the operation of the sheriff’s office, and is naive about the administration of a large organization. O’Flynn says Baxter left as chief of the Greece Police Department with two unsettled contracts as well.
