Former Rochester TV anchorwoman and State Assembly candidate Rachel Barnhart confirms she’ll formally announce her bid for Mayor of Rochester on Monday.

Barnhart will throw her hat in the ring at a downtown hotel Monday afternoon. She says she’ll be campaigning on a bold vision to grow Rochester’s economy and reduce poverty.

This sets up a three-way Democratic Party primary for the mayoral nomination, which is the de facto mayoral election given Rochester’s overwhelming Democratic voter registration.

Former Police Chief and Monroe County Legislator James Sheppard announced his candidacy last month. Incumbent Mayor Lovely Warren hasn’t announced for re-election yet, but is taking the steps you take to get ready.
