Former television reporter and anchor Rachel Barnhart pledged to swim against the currents of Albany in her formal campaign announcement for the New York State Assembly.
Barnhart held her campaign kickoff on the roof garden of the Strathallan Hotel. She’s waging a primary campaign against 138th District Assemblyman Harry Bronson, bucking Monroe County’s Democratic Party establishment in her first attempt at politics.
They key phrase in her speech was “we can do better.” She said she’ll use the voice she used as a journalist to advocate for Rochester in Albany.
