Democratic mayoral hopeful Rachel Barnhart has sent a letter of complaint to the New York State Board of Elections, charging that Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has illegally mixed the running of her campaign with her political action committee.
During a Rotary Club debate this week, the mayor denied this has taken place in response to a question from the audience.
Barnhart’s letter calls for an investigation of expenditures made by Warren’s Stronger Rochester PAC and her campaign. She says there’s ample evidence to show the PAC has covered campaign expenses, which violates state election law.
Barnhart includes a list of what she claims are such expenditures, including for a photographer, makeup services, a band and print ads.
