A suspect who held up ESL Credit Union branches in Irondequoit and Rochester on Wednesday was arrested by Rochester police after he crashed his getaway car into a house.
Parolee Sylvester Reed was out of prison on a prior bank robbery conviction.
Rochester Police say Reed robbed the ESL branch on Merchants Road, handing the teller a note demanding money but not displaying a weapon. A witness saw him leaving and tipped off police, who quickly spotted his car and gave chase. The pursuit ended with the crash, and Reed sustained minor injuries.
He was treated at the hospital, then charged with robber and grand larceny.
Irondequoit Police may also charge Reed with the holdup on East Ridge Road earlier on Wednesday.
