Two weeks after election day, the Monroe County Board of Elections finished its count of an unusually large number of absentee ballots, and the results flipped one race from the way it appeared on election night.

Democrat Jen Lunsford beat Republican State Assemblyman Mark Johns in the 135th District. She trailed Johns on election night, but the absentee count reversed that so she won by 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent; a difference of about 500 votes.

Also, Democrat Chris Ciaccio was able to declare victory over Republican Elena Cariola to become a Surrogate Court Jusge. It was another win in which absentee ballots narrowly flipped the apparent result on election night.

There are still a few thousand ballots to be counted by hand, but not enough remain to change these results.
