bald-eagle-2016-maverickMonroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Seneca Park Zoo officials say the zoo is getting an adult male American bald eagle.

The eagle is named Maverick. He’s being transferred from the Florida Wildlife Hospital and Sanctuary in Palm Shores, Florida. He’s arriving just in time for Veterans’ Day and is about four years old. He suffered unknown injuries, was rescued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, but after surgery was no longer able to live in the wild.

The Seneca Park Zoo will now be his home, along with an older eagle named Abe who was also injured and is no longer able to live on his own.
