It was back to school today for thousands of kids around the Rochester region; city schools themselves start on Wednesday, although teachers went back to work today.
Police are issuing reminders to watch out for school buses and for children going to and from school.
In Ontario County, the sheriff’s office is monitoring school zones for the first week of school. Deputies will follow school buses and make sure other drivers are following the rules when buses load and unload children.
They’ll also be looking for aggressive or distracted driving around school zones and for anyone who passes a stopped school bus with flashing lights.
