Authorities in Seneca County have identified the Geneva man presumed drowned in Seneca Lake Thursday as 47-year-old Gary Gladis Jr.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s office says Gladis, his 12-year-old daughter and her 11-year-old cousin were out on his boat when Gladis and the younger girl jumped off the boat for a swim. They didn’t have their life jackets on.
Waves and wind pushed the boat out of their reach and they weren’t able to swim back.
The 12-year-old realized what was happening and called 911. People on another boat pulled her cousin aboard and she’s O.K. But boats from four area fire departments and the sheriff couldn’t find Gladis.
The search resumed this morning.
