New York’s Attorney General has announced an agreement with the maker of naloxone, the drug carried by first responders to treat victims of a heroin overdose.
Eric Schneiderman says the agreement with Amphastar Pharmaceuticals extends a price cut on naloxone for all New York State agencies through January of 2018. The AG says a previous price cut deal negotiated for more than 200 emergency responders saved more than $1.6 million on the naloxone injectors since February of last year.
Amphastar is rebating the state $6 per dose, and the discount ramps up if the company raises the price. It amounts to a 20 percent discount
