A letter written by City Court Judge Leticia Astacio’s new lawyer to the State Court of Appeals argues that Astacio’s pay should continue until her case is resolved.
The letter, written by Attorney Robert Julian, argues that some members of the State Judicial Conduct Review Commission which recommended her removal from office made “prejudicial statements” during its hearing into Astacio’s conduct. He argues that raises questions about their objectivity.
The commission recommended last week that Judge Astacio be removed from the bench because of her DWI conviction and her history of probation violations. It gave her 30 days to resign or file an appeal with the state’s highest court.
