Former Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio apparently wants to get back into public office.
According to the Monroe County Board of Elections, Astacio picked up nominating petitions to run both for her former position on City Court, and for a seat on City Council. That would require her to file 375 signatures on those petitions for council, and 750 for the judgeship. The filing deadline is April 4th.
The New York State Constitution appears to bar Astacio from running in another judicial election. She was removed from office by the Court of Appeals, and that makes her constitutionally ineligible from holding any other judicial office. She could run for another office.
Astacio goes on trial April 1st in Syracuse on a felony count of attempting to purchase a shotgun while she was on probation.
