The New York State Assembly passed major budget bills Thursday night and today, including the aid to local governments and the capital appropriations bill for state-funded infrastructure projects.

Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle of Irondequoit says they should finish their work on the budget today. Meanwhile,  State Senate Republican Leader John DeFrancisco told reporters in Albany he’s having a conference call with the senate majority on what to do with the final budget agreement. The senate thought it had signed off on a budget Wednesday, but Governor Cuomo and assembly leaders made changes to get enough support to pass the bills in that house.

DeFrancisco says the senate will either vote to accept the amended budget on Monday or reject the final agreement, which would continue the stalemate. The budget was due on April 1st.
