Brockport Police are investigating after one of their officers was brushed by a car when the driver tried to get away after a traffic stop.

Police say 25-year-old Brandon Antrim appeared to be reaching for his registration in the glove box, but instead banged his car into gear, swung it around and sped away after being pulled over on Main Street in the village. The officer was shoved backward by the car as Antrim spun the wheel. Fortunately, he wasn’t hurt.

That officer and another officer chased Antrim, who tried to get away by cutting through the lot of SUNY Brockport’s Tower Fine Arts Center on Holley Street. But Antrim hit a tree head on, demolishing the front of his car. He jumped out and ran, but was chased down and arrested.

Antrim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for several injuries from the crash. He’s been charged with DWI and other offenses.
