Rochester Police have charged an Irondequoit man with grand larceny and reckless endangerment for driving off with an ambulance from Strong Memorial Hospital.
Thirty-eight-year-old Matthew Pawlak was arrested with the aid of the Irondequoit Police Department after the ambulance was found an hour later on Hollenbeck Street.
Police say a Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance crew had just brought a patient to Strong and were loading up their equipment when Pawlak allegedly jumped into the front seat and took off.
It was the third time this year someone in the Rochester area took an ambulance for a joy ride.
