Less than 24 hours after his body was discovered, Greece Police announced an arrest in the death of 69-year-old Michael Taylor of Old Edgemere Drive.
Police charged 41-year-old Cynthia Whittaker of Greece with Manslaughter after Taylor was found, beaten with a blunt object which police say they recovered. She was arraigned early this morning in Greece Town Court and is being held on $50,000 bail.
Police say the victim had a romantic relationship with Whittaker and they’d been dating on-and-off for years. Chief Patrick Phelan says they investigated all possible leads and talked with people having knowledge of the victim’s relationships before questioning her.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner has not yet issued an autopsy report on Taylor’s death. Chief Phelan says the manslaughter charge may be upgraded depending on the findings of that report. He says it appears she was the primary aggressor in the incident, and he says police don’t know what triggered the altercation that led to Taylor’s death.
Police evidence technicians remain on scene at Old Edgemere Drive today. Chief Phelan says the section of the street in front of Taylor’s house remains closed because of the large number of police vehicles on scene.
