A man described as a “family friend” has been indicted on murder charges in the death of an 86-year-old Greece man.
Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan says 23-year-old Omar Quarles has been charged with two counts of 2nd degree murder, burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief. He says Quarles was actually arrested the day of the breakin at 86-year-old Charles Fields’ home on Maiden Lane. Extensive lab work meant it took a long time to build their case.
Police were called to Fields’ home on October 8th to check on his welfare. They found the elderly man unconscious and suffering injuries from what appeared to be a violent struggle. Fields later died from his injuries.
Quarles will be arraigned on February 14th.
